Open Wide: 500 Years of Dentistry in Art

Open Wide features selections from the Collection of Morton G. Rivo, D.D.S., UB School of Dental Medicine class of 1957. An exhibition of over 70 prints, drawings, photographs and artist’s books related to the practice of dentistry, from early woodcuts by early European masters and satirical Victorian engravings to 20th century works that explore the commonly held notion of dentist as sadistic inflictor of pain, Open Wide explore dentistry as an art form.

Exhibition organized by director Sandra H. Olsen and UB’s Museum Studies graduate seminar students and interns.

Catalog available with essays by Robert Flynn Johnson and Richard N. Buchanan, D.M.D.
