Strata: Works on Paper by Jane Sangerman

Jun 16 - Jul 29 2012

UB Anderson Gallery

Jane Sangerman’s artistic process is a type of excavation, which involves layering, scraping, and sanding of wax, acrylic mediums, oil paint, pastels, paper, and rusted metal on a variety of supports. Objects found on the streets of New York City are granted new life and enrich the tapestry of the plane as they become one, bound with her cool color palette of aquas, greens, and turquoises.

Jane Sangerman lives and works in New York City. She provides private art lessons for children, teens and adults, and specializes in Art Portfolio Preparation. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Fine Arts from the University at Buffalo with a concentration in printmaking. Sangerman has exhibited her works throughout the United States, including solo exhibitions at Althea Viafora Gallery in New York, and group exhibitions at Jan Cicero Gallery in Chicago and Boltax Gallery in Shelter Island.
