Mark Dean Veca: El Gloominator

Sep 25 - May 16 1999

UB Art Gallery

El Gloominator is the cartoon equivalent of a blockbuster movie. The monumental, 40-foot high, floor-to-ceiling mural depicts a humongous, pea-green blob dramatically plunging – against a cataclysmic sky – into an undulating sea of turquoise-blue, intestine-like forms. The mural was designed for the Lightwell Gallery and places emphasis on special effects and action-packed scenarios.

Veca was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1963. In 1985, he received his BFA from Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles, California. Veca lives and works in New York City.
