In the Frame: The Collaboration between Reyner Baham and Patricia Layman Bazelon
April 1 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PMFree
Patricia Layman Bazelon became an architectural photographer after moving to Buffalo in 1976. She credited the British architectural historian Reyner Banham for introducing her to, “the world of industrial architecture.”
“He took me down to the Buffalo River,” she wrote. “I will never forget my first sight of these incredible structures. A startling experience… Love at first sight, akin to seeing the Colosseum for the first time.”
This talk will discuss the dialogue that took place between Bazelon and Banham regarding the practice of photography as it was manifested in A Concrete Atlantis, the project on which they collaborated.
Lecture/discussion by Hadas Steiner, Associate Professor, UB Architecture Department.
