Unus Mundi: Survival Ceremonies
November 8 @ 5:00 PM - 5:40 PMFree
Free and Open to the Public
Unus Mundi: Survival Ceremonies is a collaborative performance by visiting dance choreographer Julia Gleich of Gleich Dances, NYC and visual artist Meg Lipke. Inspired by Mira Schor’s writings on a female artist’s career in her blog *A Year of Positive Thinking*, this project investigates the relationships between visual art, dance, and other creative forms and processes. Unus Mundi: Survival Ceremonies features dancers from Gleich Dances, the UB Department of Theatre and Dance, and SUNY Buffalo State College who will activate sculptural elements made by students from the UB Department of Art alongside works by Meg Lipke.
Presented by UB Art Galleries in partnership with UB Arts Collaboratory, Center for the Arts, Department of Art, Department of Theatre and Dance, with generous support from Charles Balbach. Additional support provided by Holly Levy and Eleven Twenty Projects. Thank you to the SUNY Buffalo State Theatre Department and Dance Program Coordinator Joy Guarino. Unus Mundi: Survival Ceremonies is organized in conjunction with Take Five, an exhibition featuring the work of five contemporary woman artists working in abstraction.
